The Fall of the MH Fort

It’s been almost 2 weeks since the crushing defeat MH faced the crushing defeat in Counter-Strike by the Hands of Sajan. Now the next technical festival of Department of Electronics was going to be held named Dyuthi ’06. This time the odds of MH winning were worsened as there were 2 excellent teams from Metech one of Sajan’s and the other from Metech.

He was going to show them what it means to face a humiliating defeat. Now Sajan’s team was totally altered with new faces in them. The first point being that I was kicked. Now the new additions included

Prem a.k.a Azote: One of the most feared CS players in South who is a 12th standard kid. Has played for the A.C.I.D Clan

Dodge: Don’t know the real name but another good player from Metech

The other clan from metech was also good with veteran players from WCG tourneys. Aman was the organizer for the event and the MH fear of playing with these guys was very evident in their face. In the mean time I also made a very inexperienced clan of 5 including Me, Manu a.k.a Cross(+)wire, Adarsh a.k.a Showstopper (One of the Best UT players in India), Aravind a.k.a Frantic, Ashwin a.k.a ?bleak_hawk??. The clan was named Armed and Dangerously Insane (AnD! which roughly translates to “dick” in our language).

The first match was between TaG (Snehath’s Clan from Metech) and C!D obviously they lost all hands down. It was in de_aztec_cz and Snehath once again proved that he is the scout master. With just one match they lost they won it quite convincingly and C!D was shattered.

We were at the second match and we were facing quite surprisingly guys from NIT Calicut from a clan named vNm. Unfortunately due to our lack of coordination and team play the game went quite bad and lost a pretty close to humiliating defeat. Now I got to watch the match replay and see how lame the other guys played and saw a lot of mistakes. And they won it pretty easy we could do nothing but hope that we win say next time we play.

Sajan’s clan had an easy walk over with one very weak team they had ownage victory. The next day we had the rest of the qualifiers, quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals. The qualifiers were not much interesting with some noob clans fighting against the MH to go into semi-finals. There were interesting matches in the quarter finals and semi-finals.

Snehath’s Clan went against vNm clan from NIT and boy were they in for a treat. The vNm requested a map change from de_train to de_dust2 and the game was played. Snehath’s Clan had an ownage victory. In the final round of the matches the vNm clan typed in the message “Royally Fucked” signaling their humiliating defeat. Sajan’s Clan went against one of the MH clan “Defye” the guys we beat in Yantra ’06. This was the first time I got to watch azote’s play and man he was like a god with a magnum in his hand. The game strategies etc were so spectacular that I had never seen anyone play a game like this. It was a real thrill to see a pro player. Even after seeing his play I was reminded that this guy’s clan was defeated in WCG semi. I was thinking of those players who defeated him and thinking of myself climbing the ladder of CS. The events reminded me that I was a nothing in CS. The semi-finals saw another spectacular fight between Snehath’s Clan vs Sajan’s Clan clash of the Titans. Yet another classic match but Snehath’s Team lost to Sajan’s Clan 13-1. This was supposed to be the only match Sajan Lost in the entire tourney. Now Aman’s clan and found a much easier path to finals with luck favouring them in the semi-finals with the lots picked up caused the battle between Sajan and Snehath to take place.

Finally Sajan’s Clan met Aman’s Clan in the Finals in de_dust and obviously they were crushed to defeat. With Sajan having an ownage victory. All set Sajan’s clan was preparing for the big CS Tourney that was about to happen in Model Engineering College in Ernakulam.

I hope that one day my little clan might make to some fame. We are practicing for it now and it will be quite interesting if we ever make it to the levels of any clans present in Metech. But we are still a long way from there; a real hard and difficult path lay ahead for us.

The "Counter" Strike

Its been almost a week since the Urja ’06 incident the tensions were rising and my chances to be the part of Sajan’s Clan was dimming as he was recruiting the veteran WCG players to kick ass in Yantra ’06 this time. Also it was made a full 5v5 tourney and Sajan said that I could join the clan as the Fifth Member. There other members were

Wasim Raja a.k.a Mehak: 2 Times WCG veteran plays for the TnR clan
Shiraz Mohammed a.k.a MoosEy: 2 Times WCG veteran plays for the TnR clan
Nithin Mathew a.k.a Phyche: 2 Times WCG veteran plays for the TnR clan
Sajan himself a.ka. -=123456=-: Member of the former Cobra Clan one of the most respected Clans in the south

Looking at their profiles I was the weak one. But Sajan was a confident that we could win, I was just a pawn in the game. So the day arrived like before it was a Saturday. This time I made sure I had a good mouse to fight with so I borrowed Duttan’s Mouse a Logitech MX510 which gave me an edge over my opponents. We named our clan “CarPe DieM” as they had used that name in the WCG India Tourneys.

As usual they hosted de_dust2 we won with ease with Wazim Maggin the hell out of the opponents for the first time I played as the part of a real CS clan and I felt the pressure of the clan war. The tactics, communication and the strategies that made Counter-Strike as one of the World’s Best Known Tactical First Person Shooter and The fact that it was still as popular as it was when it was released back in 1998 as community MOD to Half-Life one of the best First Person Shooters Released in 1997 Based on the Quake 2 Engine.

In the 1st match I did more or less nothing we were CTs for the 1st half and won it hands down. With only one match needed to be won as Ts. The second round was the next day Sunday and it was supposed to be the semi finals. Just before leaving I met with some of the other members of the TnR clan namely RaiDen the guy who took Ownage with Scout in WCG when playing for A.C.I.D, the only clan from India to qualify for the WCG.

The next day we were playing against “Defye” and it was de_aztec_cz and it was what they call a sniper’s map. We won the toss and took T. We won the 1st round barely and the 2nd Round was into a total mess. After MoosEy and Mahek failed to make it in time in the underpass in water they were wiped out along with Psyche with leaving me and Sajan on the Top to win the round. I was taking the crates to the right of the door and Sajan to the left. Sajan successfully gunned down the guy at the bomb site but lost his life to 3 guys approaching from the Cement Bridge. Now since the round was an eco round there was no gun for me other that default pistol the GLOCK. Now the most wonderful thing happened I was against 3 Guys. All 3 of them walked in front of me without noticing me beside the crates and got all three of them with a GLOCK. My effort was appreciated by all even by the WCG players. I felt so relieved that I had done something for the team. The rest of the rounds we won with ease.

The finals was against the C!D clan the one who backed out last time against us. And it was in their home ground de_train. We beat them hands down as Terrorist with just one round victory for them. As CTs we won 2 round and they won 1 and we won the finals. All the clan was in excellent form with all of them playing as a single unit. I dint get to do much other than spot and shout to the teammates where the enemy was coming from. With a tourney victory this time we had beaten the MH hands down in their own game and showed them that there were better players outside and they were not the kings of the game with more experience in hours of gameplay compared to us.

But again this wasn’t a convincing victory for me as I still have to win a tourney by a team I lead or at least were I play a more significant role in the game rather than mere pawn in the game.
