Now who is this Sajan. Well you can’t describe in a line or two, it’s been almost a year now since I met Sajan in person. He is a very good friend of mine and my senior in college. But he had to drop out of college for 2 years and now he rejoined as my junior.
What makes Sajan so special is that he is one of the best Counter-Strike Players I have seen who hasn’t messed up the studies etc in the name of gaming. He was my inspiration to Counter-Strike. He helped me a lot in developing my Counter-Strike Skills, now not a lot of persons I know do that to an n00b in Counter-Strike.
Sajan was making a come back to S6 and since he was involved in Counter-Strike I called him to join my humble team to participate in “Urja 2006” Tech fest conducted by the electrical department. Now we were the underdogs in the competition as Counter-Strike was one of the strong forts of the Men’s Hostel (MH) of our college.
The only version they played was the Counter-Strike: Condition Zero un-patched version. And most of them were itchy trigger happy fellows whose main strategy was rushing to kill their opponents.
Now Sajan was prepared for the Competition with an MX500 Mouse and a Func Mouse Pad. Obviously most of the MH hasn’t even seen what the actual equipment looked like. Even my hopes of winning the tournament wasn’t that high. But we did have the edge with Sajan on our side. Now for a quick review of the Sajan’s history in Counter-Strike lets say that he was a former WCG Player, his clan “Cobra Escort” a.k.a “Dodge This” was one the best in South India at the time.
Now we were called upon to fight against a low level MH team called “Padayappa” and we still dint have a team name. So I thought of the name that we put some time back in another Counter-Strike tourney named “AnD!” (Armed and Dangerous Individuals). LOL the name does imply “Dick” in our language though the actual meaning is the seed of a mango. Anyway they dint expect us to win the match as Counter-Terrorists we lost to 3 – 2 but as Terrorist we won with 3 – 0 it was a 5 Round match so 10 Rounds Total. Yup our strength was as Terrorist and the map was de_dust2.
Obviously there were 5 Teams into the semi final so there was a loser elimination match were the lowest scoring 2 teams had to battle it out again in de_dust2. This time against “NumbSkulls” let me tell you it wasn’t easy. For every frag MH got there was loads of cheers but for a round win for us nothing was there. Obviously again we lost a Counter-Terrorists with 4 – 1 and it was pretty demoralizing. Now with Terrorist we needed to win all 5 Games to win else it would go into a tie or we would lose. With Sajan’s excellent strategy of counting the Counter-Terrorist going to Site A or Site B we made the decision to plant the bomb. And miraculously won all the 5 with a 5 – 0 score and it was an ownage victory for us. It was a pretty joyful moment in my life at that time.
Then we were in for a semi final that was scheduled for the next day. This is where complications arose. Viper had a couple of family engagements and couldn’t make it so we called in for a substitute for our team. The substitute was Shiraz a.k.a moosEy a WCG player and from one of the best from the TnR clan. Obviously the MH dint like this idea as they were sure of losing and disqualified us. Sajan was really pissed off and had a long and hot debate with them and then we parted without playing any more games for that day. Before we left Sajan swore that MH would no longer win any of the Counter-Strike matches conducted in college as long as he was there. They said they will take him on in Yantra in a full fledged 5 on 5 match in Counter-Strike that was due to take place the very next week………(To be Continued)
